Meyer reaches finals at U.S. Nationals

Clermont, Indiana - September 4, 2006 - This is NHRA's biggest race of the year. Randy qualified number 9 with a 5.332 et at 269.89 mph.In Sunday evenings opening round of eliminations, Randy ran a 5.287 seconds at 259.96 mph defeating the number 8 qualifier, Brandon Pierce, who ran a 5.390 seconds at 256.16 mph.

Randy then took out the number one qualifier, Duane Shields, in a hole shot on Monday's second rounf of eliminations. Randy running a 5.363 at 267.85 mph to Duane's 5.343 at 266.85 mph.
Running Noah Condo in the semi finals was a bit of a showdown. Condo revved up his engine a couple of times before finally staging the second light, but Randy was ready for him. Condo running a 5.404 at 266.27 mph to Randy's 5.300 at 261.22 mph.

The stage was set for the two of the quickest running cars in the finals. Unfortunately, Randy lost to Bill Reichert. Randy ran a 5.273 et at 267.37 mph to Reicherts 5.244 at 271.13 mph.
"It is such a relief that the car is running so consistent with my new motor and cam set up. So far this season we have one win a four time runner up. This should keep me in the top 10. We will go to Earlville, Iowa hoping for a win to clench the Division 5 championship and then on to Ennis, Texas for another National race. This weekend was great with the help from Scott and Mike Bowler working on the car as Ted and the regular crew could not make it, but will be back at Earlville. Thank you Scott and Mike. The race will be on ESPN2 on Sunday, September 10th at 1:00 pm Central Time and also on Thursday, September 14th at 1:00 am Central Time.
Randy is currently number 6 in NHRA's World Championship points. Randy is also the current Divison 5 points leader.
