    Meyer Wins The Gatornationals

Gainesville, Fla., March 18, 2007: Randy Meyer piloted his A/fuel dragster to a win at the ACDelco Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. "This win is a tribute to my team and their hard work before and during the race," said Meyer.

Meyer had grabbed the number one qualifying position when he posted a 5.17 second run at 265.85 mph in the second qualifying session. This was the sixth quickest run in history by a Top Alcohol Dragster. "We spent the off season regrouping and working hard towards the performance we knew we were capable of." Meyer also pointed out the success shown during the grueling, yet promising early season testing.

In Sunday's eliminations Meyer was paired with the number sixteen qualified car of Artie Allen. Randy began his string of starting line advantages and powered to a 5.338 run over Allen's 5.607. In round two Meyer was set to face Morgan Lucas. But Lucas was not able to make the call and Meyer caught a break as his car had a malfunction and hurt the motor very bad, and coasted to a 6.135.

The Randy Meyer Racing team reclaimed it's dominating performance in the semifinals after a grueling repair of the motor with the help of his dedicated team and neighbors just in time to record another 5.174 at 263.98 mph pass to eliminate Dave Hirata. Randy was set for his second consecutive Gatornationals final round.

His final round match up was with 2006 National Champion and number two qualifier Bill Reichert. Randy again earned the quicker reaction time on the starting line, .088 to .119 and needed it. His slower 5.222 second performance beat Reichert's 5.205.

At the end of the day Randy Meyer has shown his team's hard work has paid off. "It's going to be a long hard season, but we've proven we are a contender by the way we performed this weekend," said Meyer. He thanked his team as well as Aeroquip, Miller Industries, Taylor Cable Products, Automotive Racing Products, Gunk, Aeromotive Serious Fuel System, Meyer Truck Center and Lucas Oil Products.

Notables: Randy was runner up at Gainesville last year. This was Meyer's third win in five finals in NHRA national event competition. His last National win came at the 2005 SuperNationals in Englishtown, N.J. This is the same car that won the 2003 World Championship. Randy is also the Division 5 winner in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Randy and crew are on their way to a Lucas Oil divisional race in Memphis, TN this next weekend. Randy won this event last year.
