I just saw this. I'm blushing :) Thank you everyone for the kind words.

I will point out some things to look for in any system from whom ever you decide to purchase from.

    1) Unless $$$ is an absolute issue..... Don't bother with OLDER used equipment. Don't get me wrong.. There are some good usable used systems that would give great service BUT!!!!!! Unless you know what your looking for (Brand & Model) and SEEING the actual condition of EVERYTHING in the set you could end up spending more than if you bought the new stuff.
    2) UHF 4 or 5 Watt radios ONLY. Less than 4 watt your probably not going to be able to communicate at the top end. VHF is not the radio of choice for a drag car.
    3) Try and stay away from using an external antenna. I know there will be some that say it helps because of electronics. But truth is if mounted strategically in correct location will be FAR superior in signal and long time service. I am a firm believer in. "The more parts there are the more that can break" theory.
    4) Don't believe it HAS to have an M or a K in its name to be a good radio. In fact even the 2 Big names in Racing radios have gone away from using the one that begins with K. Big M is a good radio. But (For what we are using these for) I would put a Vertex against a Motorola any day. There are allot of other inexpensive radios that can do a very good job for a racecar application and cost less than the Big M or K radios. BUT!!!!!! There are some not so good less expensive ones out there. And don't even waist your time with GMRS (Motorola Talkabouts and others) radios unless there to use with your kids Jr. Dragster.

See something of mine OR ANYONE ELSES new or used that catches your eye and you need some sound advice? Feel free to contact me. I would be more than happy to help make sure you don't spend your $$$ on junk.
