DON'T HAVE ONE SO I DON'T KNOW HOW WELL THEY WORK.
CAN THE DRIVER HEAR WELL ENOUGH TO RESPOND DURNING A RUN IN TAD WITH FUEL CAR?

I don't think they have enough hands to respond.
We don't use our radios that way. We try not to talk on them after the burnout at all unless we absolutely have to. Too much disctraction for the driver. We do usually talk to him after the run to let him know ET & stuff.

They are great in staging lanes when your waiting in the car too. I think the best thing about them is that they take any misunderstood hand signals or confusion away from the starting line. But, I dont think its a good idea or even possible to use them under power either.

While we're on the subject, what brand of radios do you use and why? Looks like it'll add a few pounds to the car also? Thanks for the feedback.

    Thanks for the reply's.
Racing Radios is the product I am looking at.
My specefic problem is that our driver cannot seem to tell when we drop a couple of cyls at the hit or shortly after. It would not be for holding a conversation durning the run but only to abort.
Still don't know it is loud enough to acomplish this.
The driver would only need to hear, not respond.

    Nitrohawk,
We have had one occassion where the crew shouted (and I mean shouted) at me on the radio to shut it off. The other car had already broke and we were spraying fuel off the engine. They repeated "Shut it off" 3 times, and I understood them the 2nd and 3rd time.
They also are handy during the before the run. As Kim said, I've always told the crew not to talk to me once I've pre-staged, for fear of a mis-communication.

    Good luck,
    Marty

Will you'r always trying to come up with some kind of edge. I never thought about someone else telling the driver to shut it off!
    Thanks for the info. Marty.
Either one of you going to Pomona?
