Well i see the ams pro mod cars will be at 10 selected
nhra national events for 2007. I dont know exactly how many that both
classes are at together, but I guess pro mod will have more
priority over the top alcohol cars AGAIN.
you no,.... better pit parking, better qaulifying order,
    and more publicity...........

    Pro Mod's

This is nothing new. We should all bow down to Forrest Lucas. Without his continued support is there much doubt were TAD/TAFC would be on the pecking list. With the competetion in the TAD/TAFC classes and the perforance of the class this is difficult to figure. I like the Pro Mods but for AMS they would not be seen at NHRA races. There is room for all. I guess after thinking this over I don't think I have ever seen a pro mod on the cover of ND.

No, you won't see pro mods on national dragster, NHRA doesn't like them, but there are quite a few pro mod shows that bring in bigger crowds than divisional raceds.

Hell I could bring in more of a crowd than the divisional races with featuring two one arm monkeys in a 2 round boxing match!!!
Most of the people who are contestants at a divisional race family don't even know they are there. If you don't take ND and look hard for the schedule you don't even know there is a race taking place if its across a small town. These races are kept more secret than the formula for Nuke bombs.

    promotion

Most Divisonal races get no promotion. The few that do a decent job of promotion get good crowds. We have done match races with TA/D's and TA/FC's and packed tracks to standing room only. It's not necessarily the kind of car, but how it's hyped.

    Merry Christmas,

    Amen Marty..........
One of Drag Racing's great mysteries to me is why the division races are not promoted? It looks like there is a lot of money left on the table by the track owners. I am still waiting for the TAD/TAFC classes to be invited to the Sports Nationals races instead of them hiring in fast cars to have something to advertise. We were told when the class was ommited the first race that was held at No Problem in La. that it was done to reduce the purse for the track and be sure the race was successful and if so the class would be added the next year. Not only was it successful but you see what has happened since. You also see how the race is promoted! My question is when is it going to be considered successful?????
What the Pro Mods have going for them is they have a sponsors that promotes the class. I will say thank you to Forrest Lucas again for his support of sportsman racing but the TA classes have no sponsors promoting them in the way the Pro Mods do. The TA classes in a pole taken by NHRA a couple of years ago if I am not mistaken ranked 3rd or 4th by the fans and are the 3rd fastest and quickest class. These classes are generaly accepted as the training grounds for the Pro fuel classes but don't get a whole lot of attention.

    divisionals

It's not that NHRA doesn't have a promotion package for divisional events. Last time I knew, when a track paid NHRA for their divisional race they got a dozen cardboard posters to put out and a couple hundred cardboard coasters with the Lucas Oil company logo on them. I can't understand why that would alert the world.

I have alays thought that the biggest portion of the responsibilty for promoting a LODRS race was the track owner's. Some do, some don't. Many seem plenty satisfied with the back gate proceeds, the racer entry fees. They are missing the boat, the front gate, spectators can bring in a ton of money but they do cause some issues. You need more outhouses, more concessions, more parking, more staff. So they take the easy route, to heck with spectators. The racers bring their own food, some bring their own toilets, their parking is preordained and they bring in a ton of money and are willing to race for peanuts. As a former super comp racer I am always amazed by the equipment and money spent by the super class racers and what little prize money they are given. Us alcohol racers may bring in some spectators but we also cost them money. It is easy to see the path of least resistance that the track owners take. Somewhere behind all of this are alcohol racers trying to get sponsors for races that have no spectators or coverage. No wonder you rarely see multi-year sponsors packages in the alcohol classes. I wish the sanctioning agencies would share their wealth with the tracks with stipulations that it be spent on promotion. Who knows where drag racing would go if it were promoted on a grass roots level like the local roundy round tracks are?

    not bragging but div, 2

thats one reason our team likes running div 2 we see a real good turn out of fans , & alot of pre race promos , i live in div 3 very near to 2 major div 3 tracks & we dont hear a peep , nobody shows up , but some punk kids will have a street car chaos event , down the street & promote it a month before hand charge 20 bucks ahead to watch , & you cant even find a place to park , & they dont even use the timming system , or tree , whats wrong with this picture !!! div 2 events we feel are well promoted , with great fans , food , & great racing , cant say nothing about what happenend @ moroso , race a couple weeks ago , as i wasnt there ,but nhra does show up & tech in the cars , & sanctioned the race & the track if they didnt step in & make it right , they should not take part , in those races or let those promoters fly the nhra flag
