I'm looking to compare these 2 engine , and it seems for me that the pro-mod engine produce more HP than the (ihra)funny car engine. Last IHRA national in April : the 3 leading AFC in qualifying ran : 5,80 to 5,86 sec 240-245 mph
    leading 3 pro-mods ran: 5.99 to 6.03 sec 237 mph
    Pro-mods cars 500 lbs heavier , only 20 % overdrive !!!!
If i use the rule : 100 lbs = .100 sec. it should be .50 sec slower for PM
and what about 20 % over compared to 50% + for AFC
Can somebody explain to me why the ET & MPH are so close ?
    Thanks
    Sammy

The P/M guys have been forced by restrictive rule changes to continue to develop new stuff. Many teams have their own dyno's, fuel pump stands, etc. The improvements in the blowers has been amazing, but at a very high cost. The AFC racers have been faced with a situation where they wern't even sure they would have a class until just before the season started. The IHRA funny car guys are just as capable, but it would be hard, in my opinion, to make a big investment at this time.

The modifications made to the blower of a pro-mod car to increase boost at lower overdrive , are they accepted in AFC ? What should be the result with a blower like that with higher overdrive ? Or better , is it legal to use a top notch pro-mod engine in a AFC ?
    Thanks

Not to sound derogatory, and please don't anybody take this the wrong way. I've been to a few IHRA races and from what I see, the fuel systems are the main deficiency in the AFC's. The Pro Mod guys spend more money on there fuel systems and have learned how to plumb them correctly and seem to be better tuners. There are a couple of AFC's cars running pretty good and there fuel systems are plumbed right. I worked on one AFC in particular and I couldn't believe the mess he had for a fuel system.
