You still run the 7.50 Index?

    No sir,
Last year we ran on a 7.20 and 6.80 index. This year I think we will be staying with a 6.80 index. We are considering no index but some restrictions on blower, overdrive and nitro percent much like the Western Fuel Altered group does. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Back in the CIFCA days I had asked a couple of those guys why the 7.50? They said that was the cut off As far as Major rule restrictions as far as Safety, Chassis rules go. can't imagine running 6.80's would be that expensive compared to the Alky FC's now and 5.50's!

Takes alot more to go 6.80 than 7.50, even 7.20 for that matter. Much stricter rules quicker than 7.50 which is why you hit it right on the head. I ran CIFCA off and on (when I could afford it) for 20 years and had a blast. For years members always wanted to go quicker, myself included, but knowing that it would sideline quite a few, I was against it. CIFCA was a GREAT place to get into funnycar racing at an AFFORDABLE level. I think it is a real shame that it is not available anymore. Even at 7.50, CIFCA put on a great show with tight side-by-side racing. Just a side note: I was at Sacramento last weekend for the "funnycar fever" event and heard from many spectators that they missed the CIFCA funny cars. They could care less what the index was they just wanted to see funny cars!! Nice cars, good burnouts, and close side-by-side racing. Alot of racers got there start in CIFCA . . . Jack Beckman, Dennis LaCharte, Richard and Rhonda Hartman, Mike Halstead, Mike Savage, Sean Dale, and the list goes on and on. It was a great place to start! I wish the very best for PAFCA and Joe Powell so the racers can have a place to race and the spectators can enjoy funny cars, 'cause there's not many out there right now!!

yep, only 1 reason there wasnt more funny cars except for the guys that live there in sac area, dave smith. he had the balls to try and get the same cars back there that he screwed last year! sorry, not interested in bending over again, thanks, but no thanks. unfortunately, the fans got screwed by this also. sorry for that. i have crossed sacramento off of my list of tracks to run at, and will drive by it to get to another one. best thing they could do is change complete management if they ever want to get cars back there.

Where did I say that 6.80 wasn't more expensive than 7.50?
