Snyder Dominates the Field at Thunder Nationals Invitational

The TORCO Racing Fuels sponsored Top Alcohol Funny Car, driven by Mick Snyder, delivered an outstanding performance this weekend at the Thunder Nationals held in Martin, Michigan, less than an hour away from the TORCO headquarters. It was the first time in his career that Snyder participated in an invitational event and he did it in style, getting quicker and faster each run down the quarter-mile. The event showcased a number of the TORCO sponsored cars and many of the employees came out to enjoy a beautiful day at the US 131 Motorsports Park facilities, including owner Evan Knoll.

“This event wasn’t about us, it was about TORCO Racing Fuels and everything they have invested in us and the sport of drag racing over the last few years. We had never been to anything like this before with the funny car so we weren’t really sure what to expect,” said the second-generation driver. “It was a very relaxing atmosphere, especially for a race day. We didn’t have to worry about points or any of the other pressures that come from racing on the NHRA circuit. The facilities and staff at US 131 Motorsports Park are great and everyone treated us really well this weekend.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team began the weekend qualifying #1 with a 5.78. In the semi-finals, 24 year-old Snyder was first off the line and broke the beams at the other end with a 5.76. Then, in the finals under the lights, Snyder left on his opponent and laid down a 5.74 pass at 249 mph to take the win light.

“We really appreciate everything that TORCO has done for our Team and we don’t take any of their support for granted. It isn’t often that we get to see Evan at a race so it was especially important to us to go out and run some good numbers and gain some exposure for the TORCO Racing Fuels brand.”

The next event for the team will be this Memorial Day weekend in Topeka, Kansas at the O’Reilly Summer Nationals.
