Snyder Shoots for Double-up in Joliet

This weekend, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports / Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels Top Alcohol Funny Car Team will be competing in the Carquest Auto Parts Nationals in Joliet, Illinois. Additionally, the Team will be representing Division 3 as a participant in their first ever Jeg’s All-Star competition. After an off weekend in which Mick and crew joined over 9,000 other motorcycle enthusiasts in a charity ride to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital, everyone is anxious to get out to the track.

“Last week was a lot of fun; the riders raised over $330,000 for the children of Riley Hospital. Danny Townsend came over from Muncie and rode with us as well. It was a lot of fun to hang out with him and the team away from the track. As dad would say we are in “race mode” again this weekend and ready to get back out there,” Snyder said.

It hasn’t been all play for the team the past couple weeks. Since Topeka, they have been hard at work in the shop trying to make sure they will be ready to make the nine runs it will take to get to the finals of both races. They have had good luck at this track in the past. Snyder has been to the finals the past 2 fall Joliet events, earning his first NHRA National event win here in 2005.

“This is one of our favorite races of the year. The track is about an hour from the shop so we have a lot of friends and family attend. And the facilities and track conditions here are always great. This National event has some of the best competition we see all year because everybody comes to town for the Jeg’s All-Star event. Hopefully, we will be able to run some good numbers here and go rounds in both events.”

The event will begin on Friday afternoon with qualifying at 1:00 and 5:30 PM. On Saturday morning at 10:30 AM, the team will make another run which will count as the final round of qualifying and the first round of the Jeg’s All-Star event. Eliminations for the Jeg’s event will continue throughout the day with final round at 4:00 PM. On Sunday, eliminations for the National event will begin at 11 AM.
