Early Exit in Joliet for Snyder

In Joliet, IL last weekend, the Snyder Motorsports / Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels Top Alcohol Funny Car Team performed well, but was unable to come away with a victory at their home track.

The Team started off the weekend well, qualifying #3 in the Jeg’s event and #4 for the Carquest Auto Parts Nationals. That is when the weekend took a turn no one saw coming. During the first round of the Jeg’s All-Star race, when Snyder hit his first shift, the car lifted up the front tires again and made a hard move into the right side wall. Luckily, the 24 year-old driver was able to recover quickly and climbed out unhurt. The damage to the body of the car was significant, but mainly cosmetic.

“The car was on a great pass. I think we finally found the extra power we have been looking for, now Dad and I just need to figure out how to harness it. Because of how our schedule is set up this year, we have an entire month to get the body of the car fixed before we head to our next race,” Snyder said.

On Sunday morning, the Team was ready to get back out on the track for the first round of eliminations. They motored down the track at 5.64 and 255 mph, unfortunately it was not enough to take out his opponent who ran a personal best ET.

“We set up the car to go from point A to point B in first round. Dad just really wanted the car to run a smooth straight pass down the grove. The car did exactly what he told it to, it just wasn’t enough today,” commented Snyder. “We have so many people to thank for their help getting the body of the car fixed. At one point there were 3 different people working on the body and none of them were from our team. We can’t begin to thank them enough for their efforts, there is no way we would have made first round on Sunday without the help of Brian Olson, ‘The Fonz’ (David Kovar), David from Vern Moat’s crew, and Doug from Dale Creasy’s Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels Top Fuel crew.”

For their next event the Team will head back to Joliet for the Lucas Oil Divisional Racing Series event July 14th – 16th.
