Runner-up Finish for Thacker in St. Louis

The Rapid Transit Race Team enjoyed some success this past weekend in St. Louis at the Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. The Team, sponsored by Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels, made it to the final round of the event and moved into second place in the Division 3 points standings.

After qualifying #6 for the event with a 5.50 second pass at 263 MPH, Thacker made his way through a tough field of Top Alcohol Dragsters enroute to the final. First round, Thacker cut a great .004 light and ran a 5.68 at 233 MPH to take the win light. In the semi-finals he ran a 5.59 at 260 MPH to earn the win at the stripe. In the final round match-up, Thacker left on his opponent with another great light (.007) but was unable to hold off his competitor at the other end.

"It's hard to be real disappointed in a weekend where you come away with a runner-up finish. Still the whole Knoll Gas - Torco Race Fuels / Rapid Transit Racing Team doesn’t feel like we are running up to our potential. Not that any blown alcohol car in the world could have matched the winners performance, but we were not on our "A" game,” Thacker said.

“Every round brought about different problems. Most of the teams were struggling with the hot air and tricky track conditions, but we were chasing engine gremlins at the same time. In the end, things worked out pretty well for us, but we are very hungry for even better results."

The next event for the Team will be in Brainerd, Minnesota this weekend at the Lucas Oil National event, August 10th thru the 13th.
