Thacker Hoping for Some Luck in St. Louis

This weekend the Rapid Transit Race Team is looking to turn things around in St. Louis at Gateway Raceway Park. Although they have run well during qualifying, the Team sponsored by Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels has been unable to put it all together on Sunday. Hopefully this weekend the racing gods will finally be on their side.

“I am really looking forward to returning to St. Louis this weekend. When the old track was there, we never had much luck. Then they tore it up and put in a beautiful new facility and we ran really well,” said Thacker. “Unfortunately, shortly after, NHRA decided the Alcohol cars wouldn’t run at that National event. So this will be our first visit back to that track since 2001. We were still running a roots blower on the car back then, so it will be nice to see what our setup will be able to do there now. And it is always nice when the track is just 130 miles from the shop."

The defending Division 3 champions and winners of the 2006 Jeg’s All-Star event are excited to get the month of August underway. With four events in one month, this could really be the turning point to their season.

"We are almost to the halfway point of our season, and we have already had enough disappointment for the whole year. We took off one weekend to show off our Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels dragster in a car show, and then spent the last two and a half weeks trying to make sure ten cent parts don’t ruin our fun anymore. With the boss (Evan Knoll) returning to the drivers seat this weekend in Martin, Michigan, I really want to start earning my keep on this Torco team. Time to stop talking and get back to work."

Qualifying for the event will begin on Friday evening at 6 PM. The Team will have two more shots at 6 PM and 9 PM on Saturday. Final eliminations will begin at 1 PM on Sunday. For coverage of the event please log onto www.dragracecentral.com.
