    Thacker Heads to Texas

Fresh off a win at the prestigious Jeg’s All-Star event held in Joliet, Illinois last weekend, Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team are packing up the rig again and heading the 800 miles south to Rusk, Texas. They will be competing in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division Four event held at Cherokee County Motorsports Park. The defending Division 3 championship Team is hoping to pick up their second win of the season and gain some ground in the National and Divisional point chases.

“Cherokee County Motorsports Park will be a new stop for our Knoll Gas - Torco Race Fuels team. The weather man is calling for temps in the 90s, so we thought we'd better fill up the rig with diesel and head down there,” Thacker said.

“There are so few races where the weather gets hot enough for the blown alcohol cars to be able to perform with our injected nitro brothers, that we need to take advantage of the favorable conditions while we have the opportunity. Hopefully it turns out to be a good move for us.”

After making some changes to the set-up of the car, the Team, sponsored by Atlantic Industrial and Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels, ran some of their best numbers of the season last weekend in Joliet. They are hoping to continue to step up their performance this weekend.

Qualifications for the event will begin at 6 PM on Friday and continue on Saturday at 1 and 6 PM. Eliminations will begin on Sunday at noon. For coverage of the event please log onto www.dragracecentral.com.
