Thacker Continues Title Defense​

Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team will make the trip from Robinson, Illinois to Indianapolis to continue their Division 3 championship title defense. After a two-week postponement, the team is looking to earn their first win of the 2006 season at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

“So far this year we haven’t had much luck. We are still working out some bugs and getting used to this beautiful new Spitzer Chassis. This weekend we are hoping to turn all of that around and get this TORCO Racing Fuels / Atlantic Industrial dragster in the winner’s circle,” explained Thacker. “Dad’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago (the originally scheduled race date) and I told him we were going to try to get him a Wally this year. Hopefully, we will still be able to accomplish our goal. I am sure he won’t mind the if the gift is a little belated.”

This race will also mark the beginning of the 2006 Spitzer Low Qualifier Series Championship for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car. In this series competitors earn points based on their qualifying position at the Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events. Thacker, the defending 2005 champion, will begin his title defense in this competition as well.

“Atlantic Industrial and TORCO Racing Fuels have given us the means to come out here and race each weekend. We cannot begin to thank them enough for all their support. Hopefully, this weekend we will be able to put on a good show for our fans and sponsors,” remarked Thacker.

Qualifying will begin on Friday at 4 PM. Two more qualifying attempts will be made on Saturday at 1:00 and 4:30 PM. Final round of eliminations will begin at noon on Sunday.
