BRANDON PIERCE SAVES HIS BEST FOR DALLAS


ENNIS, Texas -- Brandon Pierce and the Sooner One Motorsports Top Alcohol Dragster team arrived at the Texas Motorplex yesterday for the Division 4 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, which runs from Oct. 14-16.

In the first round of qualifying today, Pierce surprised many when he flew down the quarter mile in 5.35 seconds at 258 mph, both career-best efforts. This positions him in the #2 qualifying spot for now, less than two hundredths of a second behind low qualifier Steve Torrence.

With two more qualifying opportunities at 1 and 4 p.m. tomorrow, it is certain to be an exciting weekend for the Sooner One Motorsports team.

“All the hard work my team and I have done for the past three years with this car is finally paying off. We really struggled for a long time, but that’s why it means so much to me,” said Pierce after his qualifying pass, “I hope we can do well and close out our season on a high note.”

One week ago, at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol, also held at Texas Motorplex, Pierce qualified eleventh with a 5.56-second pass. He followed up that effort by running 5.48 seconds at 244 mph during the first round of eliminations, although he was narrowly defeated by 2004 Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Ashley Force.

A former Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street racer originally from Oklahoma, the 29-year old Glendora, Calif., resident joined the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks in 2003, and is currently ranked seventh in the NHRA Division 4 points standings for the class.
