Taylor Braced for Brainerd Brawl

ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor is on a collision course with the best Top Alcohol Funny Cars in the nation, as the Plumbing Concepts Camaro rolls into Brainerd, Minnesota, for the first time this weekend. The event at Brainerd International Raceway certifiably has “Brawl” or “Clash of the Titans” written all over its entry list, as 8 of the 18 cars pre-entered finished on 2004’s nationwide Top 10 list, of which Dennis Taylor proudly wears the Number 4.

Dennis commented, “We’ve never raced at Brainerd before, but speaking for the whole team, we’re all looking forward to this weekend. I felt that if we were in (or near) the top five in points at this stage of the season we’d need to hit Brainerd, because it’s difficult to schedule eight national events with a team that’s based in

Southern California.” Top Alcohol Funny Car drivers are eligible to compete for points at eight National and eight Divisional events.

Crew Chief, Ora Vasquez, added, “In the last few outings we may have been a bit too aggressive off the starting line, as it’s made a hard move and forced Dennis out of the groove on a couple of important runs. However, we can’t take too much power away at such a critical part of the run, considering the level of competition we’re up against. It’s a fine line. Every track and every run is different, since conditions change from one moment to the next.” Dennis added, “Here in 2005, we seem to be one of the quickest cars in the first 300 feet, so we really have to be careful each time we go to the starting line.”

The extended forecast calls for a few showers possible on Friday with temps in the upper 70s. Saturday promises a mix of sun and clouds with favorable temps in the upper 60s, while Sunday looks to be the same. If those predictions come true, the cooler temperatures will be a welcome relief for Dennis and the Plumbing Concepts crew. Qualifying gets underway at 1:30 and 4:30pm on Friday with one more shot at 11:00am Saturday, followed by Eliminations, which are scheduled for 4:00pm.
