Is there any builders on the board that is willing to exchange some info ? I have a problem I have not encountered before. When setting the trans brake and stepping on the throttle the car lurches about a foot. The band could be alittle loose as I was tought a different way than Bill Taylor just informed me. The reverse pack is perfect. Any ideas???? Fluid level is slightly high and line Psi is 225. Thanks
    Mike

Could be a number of problems.
Reverse not holding, solenoid not engaging properly, leak between valve body and case, leak between gov support and case, reverse piston stuck, reverse piston worn, reverse piston seals leaking, blocked reverse apply passage, staging rpm too low

I adjust the band by torquing the allen screw to 70 in lbs and then back off 4 full turns. Never had a problem doing it this way.

    Hope this helps

I'm also having the same exact issues. It seems if i hold the hand brake on long enough, then let go (after engaging the transbrake) the car doesn't move. Idle speed doesn't seem to matter.

Dave, mind if i call Brian too? LOL

Mike, had that problem some years back. Replaced the valve body and it was gone. I've also heard that low pump pressure would do it.

Thanks guys. I worked for Mike's trans for a long time and should know this. After talking to a few other builders it seems the band is not tight enough. Im going to tighten up the band, Replace the solenoid and do some launches. I will let ya know if this works. I looked at the trans again and everything is as close to perfect as can be. We launch at 4500. This problem just came up out of the blue. Everything has been great. Thnaks again all and I will get back

hey mike if it is moving forward it would be the reverse clutches not holding or a leak in the piston..Dave

I used to have a similar problem if the gearbox wasn't warmed up enough for the first run of the day, after the first run it worked ok

I should have stated that this is a problem that seemed to happen intermittantly and mostly hot thats why in the pits it was ok. The solenoid resistance is ok when cold but once you get the trans to operating tempature the solenoids resistance changed also compaired to the new solenoid. This weakend the coil and caused it to fail. We did 6 launches at operating temp with the new solenoid and it never failed. Thanks for helping out guys. See ya at the track
