How much do you think the weight will slow down the A/Fuelers?

Do you think parity will exist next year?

    **Topic meant for objective discussion.

    Will,

Are you asking about the front runners or A/FD as a whole?

I think the car to watch will be Jerry Darien's with Ashley in it and John pushing it will be hard to beat. ;) ;)

Not sure on the actual weight the cars will have to add, but -

If the AFD's were not close to their required weight this year then I believe the rule change will not slow them down enough.

And if they were close to their weight and drivers drinking alot of water at the top end I think the rule change will also have minimal effect.

The only way parity will exist with this change is if the blown guys/gals "work harder", spend more money and pray. lol or if the AFD cars give the blown cars a break.

    Still hoping though.

It may slow them down about a half a tenth for about 5 weekends then it will be something that means nothing. If the cars of bartone, darrien, and meyers were already 50 to 60 over the weight limit then it will do nothing right off the bat. I am betting that they were over by a little way.

Not one bit, for the cars that have to add the 75 lbs. maybe a bit. With Ashley Force driving Darien's car at 110 lbs?(guess) compared to Morgans 170(Another guess!) they're going to fly!

Few if any were running 40-50lbs heavy. We run 15 lbs heavy on fuel because of the a-holes that try to burn us up by setting out. As for my car I have to add 95 lbs with the new change. Due to the change we will not run at least 3 of the div. 6 events in 2004 and will pass on Sacramento & Sonoma div. 7 events also.I hope NHRA and all of the cry babies are happy.

    mitch,

take a look in the mirror and see who's crying. given the other rules changes they could have put on you, if i was an a/fueler, i would be pretty happy right now.

you never did state why you weren't running those events?

i was hoping this could be an objective discussion, but i guess that was wishful thinking...

He's running a 432 in. He forwarded to me last week the reason he would not run the selected races in div 6 and div 7 is that at those races the class was very close anyway and with the exception of Sear Point, the tracks are marginal at best, moore so, not that safe. He feels that adding around 100 lbs or more to any race car as a ballast is not safe.
I Hope Mitch, I did not speak out of turn for you.

Mr. Scary in case you don't know it is the car and the driver that weigh. So Ashley's weight means absolutely nothing. The car and driver will still need to be over 2100lbs.MG

Michael- isn't it a bonus to be able to put 60lbs where you want it as opposed to in the seat?
Judging by the size of my SEAT! I WOULD LIKE TO MOVE 60LBS ELSEWHERE. LOL ;)

How you doing fireman? You are correct as usual, but where would you like it, up front or in the seat and back? All it did for me was get my crew off my ass about losing weight. If you are still coming to fl. give me a shout.MG

Michael Gunderson, I know NHRA weighs car and Driver. Doesn't a light driver allow different weight placement? Isn't it easier to put weight where you want it if your light?
