My prayers go out to the Russell family and the Amato Racing team. Words cannot describe the pain I feel for their family. All who knew Darrell as family, friend, competitor or otherwise, know we all have lost a true blessing. I count it an honor to have been his friend. His kindness and friendship will be deeply missed.
    Sincerely, Alan Bradshaw

A couple years ago at the Southern Nationals, my three boys and I received Darrell's autograph and he took the time to really talk to the boys and say "thanks" for coming by. I commented to my boys that he was one guy who really appreciated the opportunity that he had and ever since then we have always rooted for Darrell to do well. What a class act.

When I turned on the race (kind of late - the finals were about to begin), I could tell that something was wrong as the announcers seemed down. When they announced what had happened, my heart sank and that "pit in my stomach" feeling definitely hit me pretty good. We will definitely pray for his family and crew as they will be the ones hurting the most.

Our deepest sympathies to Darrell Russell's family. Darrell was a great competitor and an outstanding representative of the sport. We were proud of him for being one the alcohol racers who made it to the big times.
Our heart aches for his parents, brother, and wife. Please know that our prayers are with you.
    Our sincere sympathy,
    Chuck & Tina Baird

On behalf of all of us at InsideTopAlcohol, and on a personal level, I would like to send out our condolences to the entire Russell family during this rough time. Darrell was really one of the good guys, he worked his way up the ladder from the alcohol ranks and served as a role model for all of us chasing that dream. He showed it could be done and did it well and with grace. As TJ mentioned, you could really tell he appreciated what he had, and never once did I see him turn down a fan for an autograph or picture. On the same note, he always took time to talk to old alcohol racing buddies, and even made a few trips out in the grass to BS. We lost one of the best. God's Speed my friend.

I saddens me deeply to know that Darrell Russell has passed away. His passing will be a great loss to the racing community. This is a dangerous sport and he died doing what he loved. Myself, my team, and my family would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Russell family and Joe Amato Racing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as well as in our hearts, you have suffered a great loss. May God bless you all.

I am truly saddened by the death of Darryl Russell. As I try to make sense of this and the lose of my own parents. I have come to realize that our farther GOD has called them home for a greater purpose.
I was listing to the Carpenters greatest hits albums the other day, as Karen was one of my favorite singers.
I was thinking how wonderful she sounded and then it dawned on me why our farther called her home so she could sing for the angles and everybody in Heaven. I am sure Darryl was called home to use his special talents also.

    Take Care & God Bless
