    sad and stupid

you know, after a few drivers dying in the pits it thought most had got the message. not. at pamona i saw a comp dragster with a vw type engine running on the ground,no jackstands, and no one in the seat! now, after revving the crap out of the engine, they decided to put a jack under it and really make it safe! i really couldnt believe what i had just seen, so looked ahead of it to see a few kids playing on the ground in front of it paying no attention to the missle just about to come their way. some people just dont get it. period.

Any of you remember back in the 70's at Pomona when Billy Meyer's FC while idling came off the floorjack (OR whatever he was using!) and took off out of his pits? I heard(?) he just hit a Pit vehicle nothing else is what I was told. I asked Meyer about this at Indy one year, he said he was warming up his FC with Cowboy Boots on of all things! And his Right Boot got wedged between the Bellhousing and the Frame rail. Bet that was the last time he did that!

    Hey Clint:

That can't be me. I don't have one of those nostalgia funny cars! Although I agree that could be some of our crew. We're probably pretty close to the same age as that guy hanging over the injector when it blew up.

I remember thinking back when the guys were running the car called Fast 'n Forty "Why would anyone still be racing when they get to be that old? LOL. Now forty looks pretty good to me.
