piston to bore

    hi.... can anyone tell me how loose of a fit i can run a hemi piston to bore . this thing is a jp1 block . i also need the bolts that come into the side of the main caps......thanks peter

    Manufactures of pistons, will usually have a suggested piston
    to clyinder wall clearence given with a specific application,
    and piston. when you get a piston you would measure each one, and
    then have your block bored and then final honed to that specific
    clearence. on a blown deal I would say .006-.008.

    If .006 - .008 ptw is all you allow I have made a lot of passes in vain! You can definatly run to .015 easy!

    Best to talk to the piston manufacturer. Some pistons are fitted a lot tighter than others. I personally like JE's. Good advise from Ed

    It depends on where you mike the piston, I mike 180 degree across from the center of wrist pin, and go .010 bigger finnish.;)
