I am about to build a new diff centre for my blown alcohol sedan and was thinking of using a strange HD Pro aluminium case with the through bolts to save on some weight, but they have two options on the pinion support bearing, a large tapered roller or angular contact ball bearing, what would be the best one to use ,and is there any benefits to the ball bearing one. I ordered the one with the tapered bearing but might be having second thoughts on that now, and just wondering on the HP limits of the strange alloy HD Pro case, the most HP I will proberly be making is around 1500 and hope to run low 7's my car weighs 3000lbs and want to get this down some.

    cheers Brett

I would go with the ultra case and be done. The weight difference is so minimal. IMO I switched to an ultra and they are not THAT heavy.

How much is there between the ultra and pro alloy cases in weight, I am changing out my strange iron centre for the alloy one to start my weight reduction program, I race in outlaw 10.5 and for a small block my car is 500 lbs overweight , at the same time I am doing a tubular front k member and swapping to strange ultra struts.
