    Pilkington Ready to Pounce!

Photo-17.jpg With five rounds remaining in the 2012/13 Motorplex Top Comp Championship, Rob Pilkington has pushed aside his testing regime in order to claw back the lead from his current third spot.

The CTS/Alutech Funny Car sits only twenty points behind leader, Daniel Gregorini, however Pilkington is not at all comfortable with remaining on the lowest platform of the winner’s podium.

“A lot of people would be happy with third in a competition as tough as this but we’re certainly not. We’re all about winning and putting CTS, Alutech and Force Equipment in the spotlight and third spot is not the place to sit and be content!”

Pilkington has pinpointed the half way mark of the season to make a move for the top spot and leave the team’s testing programme aside and concentrate on results.

“After we won the Goldenstates, we made some major chassis changes and gearbox and clutch changes which has seen our normal consistency disappear and some unfamiliar early round loses , but in this sport you have to sometime go backwards in order to go forwards.”

“But we can’t afford to take risks now. Daniel (Gregorini) and Al (McClure) are far too good at their craft to let go any further. They’re at the top because they’re great racers and now’s the time for us to pounce and regain some positions if we want to nail another championship.

“We believe we are very close to putting the Monte Carlo back into the sub record zone with better consistency than ever before. We’ve been amazed by the data we’ve accrued in the last few meets and as a result, the Alutech/CTS team is quietly confident that the second half of the season will be much more fruitful that the first. To put in simple terms, - Just watch this space,” Pilkington said.

The Alutech/CTS crew’s next outing will be the first weekend in February, when the ANDRA Drag Racing Series Top Fuel Dragsters return to the Perth Motorplex..
