Hello ITA'ers, I just wanted to drop a note and let you all know that I am on the mend and feeling better every day. Thanks to all those that have wished me well.
Crashing sucks and from what I have heard this was no one else's fault but my own. Unfortunately being knocked out has erased my memory of everything from before the car started to when I woke up in the hospital. But I am sure that I should have taken my foot out of the throttle LONG before things got as bad as it did. It is very frustrating not knowing what I did wrong... I have been contacted by someone who is sending me video of the accident from the shutdown area looking towards the starting line, so I plan to do my own 'FAA' style investigation [IMG] . Once again, I am not looking to place fault anywhere but on my own shoulders, just get a better understanding of where I f**ked up!!!
I have a pretty good concussion (better roll bar padding may have helped), sore wrist (the steering wheel isn't where it used to be) sore ribs, sore leg, back pains, etc, but I am just VERY glad to be able to type this letter!!! hahahaha

    take care,

    Chris Demke

Chris, glad to hear you are on the mend.
How you going to be in my top six if you are on the sidelines. ;)

It is very refreshing to hear a driver say no one is to blame but myself.

Too many times blame is shifted to the track, the prep, the guy, in the other lane, my wife etc etc.

The biggest secret to staying in one piece, is to know when to say when.

This post is kudos for honestly [IMG] [IMG]

A sure mark of a good honest driver and someone I would want in my corner, Chris I applaud you.

    Chris,

Glad to hear you are doing well. Let me know if I can do anything to help, I live in Fairfield. I was on the starting line after my run watching when it happened. You making it out in one piece says a lot for the safety of these cars.

    Chris~

I was there helping a friend with his car in Top Comp and saw the aftermath. If you need any help or an extra set of hands with the new car let me know. I am just north of Sacramento and would gladly drive down to help out.

    Chris,

Sonoma just wasnt very kind to your team or the one I work on ( Foolish Money ) John Patton wishes he was knocked out, he remembers everythng. He too admitted afterwards that he stayed in it way too long and shoulda bailed. Just glad you are recovering.

If you wanna place blame, blame them brand new Hoosiers you had mounted up before the run and had stuck on the mounting machine ;) Loved the way the Goodyear guy came over and "fixed" the problem. Oh by the way I didnt catch your crew guys names but they came over right after John crashed and made sure he was ok and gave us an update on you. Way cool of them!

See you at the track soon

Hey Chris, great to hear from ya so soon, and to hear that you haven't lost your sense of humor either. We were on the return road next to you as you were rolling over, we all held our collective breaths (if that's a word) as we watched in disbelief. The initial 'RUMORS' about your health were not good at all, damn glad to hear the opposite. Hang in there dude, and hope to see ya real soon.

    Bob, and the Niver bunch.

One more thing, 10-4 on the crashing sucks deal, we starred in that movie a couple years ago, at the same place. Remember?

Take care of yourself. Don't rush it.

Chris, was it just a matter of the car weaving out of the Groove and Turning over? Didn't hear or see anything.

Chris, glad to hear that you're doing better. We went to dinner with the safety guys that night and they said it was a pretty violent deal. We are literally right up the street from you in Sunland so if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. Email me if you need anything. Seanb@cad-cam.com

No worries, I am fully recovered. It took about a month or so to feel 'normal' again. Thanks for your concern :)
