I know this question has been asked before but I would like some other pros and cons. I have used Stroud chutes and liked the ease of packing and deployment. Since I am looking to purchase another pair of chutes I was considering other manufactuers since I am on a budget with this new project and am considering buying a nice used set.

Aren't all the others crossform style? WHat are the opinions of the following:

    Simpson

    Impact

    Diest

    Thanks!

    Chutes

Deist chute here, love it, even I can pack it. Uses the elastics for the canopy lines, not a bad system.

Can one person pack it? I have helped with Simpsons before and it does seems to require two people

I guess if you really had to, one person could, but the pilot springs on the Deist chutes are pretty strong. You would be swearing. If you can put the pack on a quick release so it can be removed, (push down on the pilot instead of against the rear of the car) it is a one person job. I set my car up that way but there is always enough people around for help so I can keep it mounted in place.

Jody only likes stroud's cause it's family ;).
I've always ran chute metals and loved them, big bag easy to pack 8 lines opens every time unlike some. I'm hoping the Taylors are similar asa chute metal is closed and I should need two this year.

With the same last name I HAVE to run them. LOL.... But I love them, with the deployment bag you can pack them by yourself in a few min. I use and love their belts and blower bag and diaper...all good products. But I'm sure Taylor's, Simpson, Diest, chute metal and others are good also. Bob Stroud got his start designing chutes for airborne heavy drops for the military, so there's another thing we share.
