Opinions on crank support with out starter

What are the pros and cons on running crank support with out starter mount. I see some people run them others don't. Thanks

 

Depends on your application. A lot of the newer stuff has a roller bearing in the front cover which means the bearing support on the front side of the pulley is redundant and extra weight so people take em off. If your having #1 main issues or weird bearing issues on #1-2 rod bearings an outboard bearing support may be for you. If your bearings look good and your not pushing it real hard your probably fine as is.
