I have posted a new video on YouTube with OnBoard video from my new GoPro Hero HD camera. I am still trying to figure out how to best use this camera, how to mount it so it doesn't move during tire shake, etc. For best viewing results choose 720p and full screen mode.

    cool video

Was there a reason they lined you up pointed to the right and to the right of the groove?

Yes. I think the degree to which the car is pointed to the right is exaggerated by the camera being wide angle and mounted on the left side of the roll cage, but yes, they planned to have the car pointed a little to the right.

    Chris,
Check out this video from last year...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPz86Y0oRpw
Mounted on the wing strut using the 3M sticky pad with zip ties securing it.
The next run, we blew a fuel line and it melted the camera right off the mount and sent it tumbling down the track ;-/

This is the best video I've captured in a funny car.

This is an example of how not to mount the camera, using the suction cup on the front wing of a fuel altered, not recommended.

And there's many many more here:

Hope some of these can help you out!
