Can any one tell me what the difference is between the old fire bottle spec. and the new one? New bottles are exspensive and mine are only 2 years old. Does SFI just sit around and dream this S%!@ up.

strictly a money grab- as a firefighter, I feel that both Underwriter Labratory or Canadian Standards were both not only adequate agencies to certify fire extinguishers and other pressure vessels but far superior to SFI.

I can agree with the money grab, but I looked around for the difference and found only a money reason to make everyone buy new bottles to fill some ones wallet, but as I say that I would like to inform evry one that there is a company that is helping the racers with a real good price deal on the required bottles.
The company is " Phoenix Fire Systems " and I do mean a good money deal and I now have there bottles on my car along with my new partner Steve Weggeland of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hope top see all in the Div/7 wars in a few weeks.

Matt Thornton (number one dude on our team) just installed a new set of FireFox bottles on our car yesterday. They are .150" larger in diameter than the Flame-Out bottles I had, so he increased the radius of the existing brackets .075" and put them on. The mounts we already on the car made them a bolt-on item because we had room behind the weight bar for them.

The reason I chose FireFox over other brands: Firefox bottles are refillable (yours may not be, meaning you have to buy new bottles every time you set them off), they were less expensive than the non-refillable brand, SFI spec's (of course), DOT stampted (one pro funny car team had all their bottes confiscated during an inspection at the scales on the road because their old bottles were not DOT stampted which constitutes illegal transportatin of pressurized bottles), and the system is used by most pro teams meaning you could probably borrow some a lot easier if you got in a bind.

Did I say the system was less expensive, too? Yes I did.

    Good luck.
