kb 526.. fire it up 120# oil pressure do the burn out back up 60# of oil pressure...this is a wet sump...sent the pump off to black came back with a good bill of health put new oil lines on and this is a 2 line oil pan, called system 1 they said the oil screen is the right one, we are running 17 qt. of oil in this motor..but the kicker is as soon as I swap feet the pressure goes to 100 plus...any help please...also the bearings look great. thanks Dave Lowe swr

dave, i sorta have the same issue. 526 hemi, system one pump, rock crusher system 1 filter, 3qt accusump. synergyn 70wt switched from royal purple nitro 50 with no noticble diff. 16 qts motor, 1 filter,3 in accusump.
fire up 190#, burn out and back up and stage sometimes as low as 30#. computer shows around 30# at hit, goes to 180 for first 1.5 to 2.0 secs then steadily drops till end of run around 4.3 seconds as low as 30# again.
I thought i was running outta oil idling to long backing up,but why 30 at the hit and up to 180ish. that would not make sense if out of oil.no bearing damage either.YET!!!!
Also on warmup 190 on start and as motor builds heat, psi drops steadily down to 75 to 80 then i kill it. this process is usually 3 to 4 minutes. I hope someone can throw us some tips.

What kind of main and rod bearing clearances do you have? If you don't know, it's time to find out. As the engine warms up, they get wider.

Here's a tip ,Take off your rocker stands and look at the bottom of them, 1 of them, on each side should have a hole for the oil to get to the shafts, if i'm not mistaken the #4 stand is for oil to the shafts, if they all have a hole ( the stands) then you have to tap them and put plugs in them to seal off the oil or it will come out from the bottom of the stands, bolting them down don't seal them off. silacone wont help,Capesh? I'm wondering if you have a suction leak on one of your lines going to the pan. Had a friend who had this problem. Just something to check.
