Brandon “The Kid” hopes rain at Thunder Valley only postpones celebration
    BROKEN ARROW, OKLA – October 16, 2006
The officials at Thunder Valley Raceway Park were forced to postpone Sunday’s eliminations at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division-4 event, but Brandon “The Kid” Lewis has not changed his goals for the event.

“Having to wait won’t affect us at all,” Lewis said. “We’ll do the same in a couple weeks as we would have done this weekend. It will just be later on down the road.”

Lewis qualified in the sixth spot with an elapsed time of 5.769 seconds and a top speed of 248.07 mph. He said his times should continue to improve through the remainder of the season as the team adapts to a chassis modification made before the race that moved the engine forward.

“We freed the chassis up and the car felt more responsive,” the 21-year-old driver said. “During the three qualifying passes we didn’t even change the tune up. We just switched it up for the air. Other than that, we pretty much ran it right out of the box.

“The car responded to everything we threw at it. We should just keep getting better and better.”

The Division-4 event has been scheduled to conclude on Friday, October 27. With qualifying completed and eliminations set, competitors will get a time trial run beginning at 9 a.m. and move directly into eliminations.
