No Tafc / Tad At Sonoma Nats In '09

just got an email today from our division representative that shows NHRA is not having the Top Alcohol classes at Sonoma Nats next year. We gained the fall Vegas race (yeah!) but lost the Sonoma deal (Booo!) What gives? The guys back east have many national event opportunities within a reasonable drive and us out west have 5 (Pomona 2, vegas 2, seattle). I don't understand why we can't race at Phoenix anymore, and now they take away Sonoma. Surely not because of a lack of participation. That race has always got a full field plus. WTF over????

 

I haven't seen the schedule yet. Does that mean three weekends in a row (Vegas Nat's, Vegas Div, Pomona Finals)?

One of the bigger reasons they dropped the Alcohol classes from Firebirds national event is lack of adequate pit space. As it is now even without the alky cars and doing the rotational deal with the other sportsman cars, you still have people pitted past the top end of the track, basicaly outside the gate. Definatley sucks that you guys dont race here anymore other than the LODRS.

 

The plan to phase the sportsman racers out is almost complete. And we were worried about the HD deal. almost no super street 7 races!

 

Don't worry about the dropped races as NHRA will add the top sportsman classes (TAD & TAFC) to the Sportsnationals any year now!!! They need a new designation for these classes like ProSports. That way they can with good concious keep them out of the SportsNationals forever!!

 

Even Obama cant fix this,,,,

I will miss being able to drive my car back to the pits at the end of a run.
and
Parking on the side of a hill.
and
dirt and weeds to parking on.

I will miss The Seipel's.

 

I saw the subject of this thread. Then I saw that Don Hudson had responded and I got so excited that I could not wait to create my response. Then Don went and stole my thunder. It's like tuning in to a re-run of Boston Legal that you've already seen. Wait...I like the re-runs, too.

 

I'm sure if you talk nice to Georgia she will let you park in your usual spot in the weeds on the side of your favorite hill at the '09 division race.

Wow... no TAD/TAFC, Pro Mod or stock elim. I'm not going next year..... I love it when NHRA saves me money.
