I got a 2450 lbs mud racer with a 478 BBC 14-71hh retrofth hat and port nozzles and would like to run additional nitrous system on it to cut about 2tenths off my et to be in the game with the hemis and screw blown cars...is there a guide to follow as to how much to richen the main to accommodate a given nitrous volume?

Not too many racers on this website do that kind of racing. Most of us are just pure methanol or nitro. You might have better luck on a Yellowbullet forum.

Are you running meth (you did not specify)? Decide how much N20 you want to run in pounds per hour or pounds per minute. The nitrous to fuel ratio for meth is 4.15:1 ideal, but you'd want to be richer than that by a bunch. The mass flow rate of N20 that you want to runn will then dictate the mass flow rate of the enrichment meth, and you can then adjust your fuel system to give the corresponding increase for enrichment fuel. Throw in a bit of extra enrichment meth to cover the densification of the air which will occur due to the vaporization of the N20. Are you wanting to put the N20 into the hat, or the manifold? Trial & terror is the only real way to tackle the job.

You might want to seriously consider using a dedicated N20 fuel system, and leaving your base fuel system alone if it is already optimized for off N20 use.

@tol Running torco methanol injected thru hat...ratio for alcohol to nitrous is what answer I'm lookin for...a seperate n20 system is my second choice to go to..would race gas/nitrous be compatible with blower and alcohol or would it be a must to use alcohol/nitrous? Thank you for your help....
:mad:mike canter.....ive seen a few pro mods running nitrous with there screw blown hemis and would like to try it as we are a low budget team and figured that some of the guys on the forum might have some leads as to where I should start.I will post on the website you suggested. Thanks...

Put an .020 N2O jet in each runner, add 1 gal. / min. of fuel, retard timing 2 degrees and give it a try. Should make small increase, then work it up from there.

Stick with meth. I agree with aj481x, that the best place to inject is in the runners.

    Blowerspike,
Just curious. Are you saying you are maxed out on boost potential and the chevy is still alive?

I have the largest pulley I can fit w/o hitting the pump ext. Std cam std deck And smallest blower pulley with out binding my belt(14mm).about 40.lbs.boost..the only reason its alive is the distance we run..the local mudraces are 125 ft long...pretty much a burnout to you fellas ,8,000 to 10,000+ corrected density altitude on a good day..not much air up here..that's why I'd like to use nitrous to make some more available air....
