Nitromethane

Just heard about new plans by the Canadian Federal Government to control certain chemicals - one of which is Nitromethane.

Seems that one of the chemicals the terrorists in England were found in possession of was Nitromethane.

I don't know what the ramifications will be for us racers, but will keep my eyes open up here for any further news.

Nitroglycerin

Over here we heard it was Nitroglycerin in cotton. not nitromethane

Nitroglycerine was also mentioned. This is the list that has been posted today:

Ammonium Nitrat in solid form, at a concentration of 28% to 34% Nitrogren
Nitric Acid at a concentration of at least 68%
Nitromethane
Hydrogen Peroxide at a concentration of at least 30%
Potassium Nitrate
Sodium Nitrate
Potassium Chlorate
Sodium Chlorate
Potassium Perchlorate


The hydrogen peroxide is readily available in drug stores but is sold in a much weaker concentration

So is this going to kill top fuel and nitro funny cars?????, only time will tell, what a #@*@ up world we live in, to think that those @$$ holes could mess up drag racing. who would have tunk. I rember Sammy Miller telling me how they stoped him from going to englind with his rocket funny car way back in the day for the same reson

 

Apparently America does not have a corner on knee jerk politicians looking for air time.
1: Banning it. I doubt it as it is used in many industries.
2: If they ban liquid carry ons then it is a moot point but that won't stop the TV hand wringing.."we are the government, we are here to help you"
3: If they didn't ban it after the Oklahoma murders I doubt it will happen now.
4: Watch for a sudden price increase blamed on this report. If gas companies can do it so can......

They were interviewing passengers than had endured long delays. One woman was quoted as saying:

We have to take our shoes off, now we can't carry hand luggage. The next step will be removing our clothes and we will have to fly naked.

Not a pretty picture to have in your mind.

 

The only thing worst, would be if they asked her to sing.
