NHRA's response to TARA regarding SPORTSnationals

    Several members of TARA have consulted with various NHRA officials, including Sportsman Liasion Len Imbrogno regarding the non-inclusion of Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car in the upcoming SPORTSnationals at No Problem Raceway.

    Imbrogno and several other officials stated that the primary reason was money for purse. The national event purse for competitors in TAD and TAFC equals over $66,000. Being a new event and with the track being responsible for the payout, Imbrogno stated that the additional purse money was too much to handle in the first year. He stated that if the event is a success, TAD and TAFC will be considered in the future.

    Imbrogno did state, however, that if a sponsor for the class payout could be secured, the Top Alcohol categories could be considered.

    TARA will consult with its membership to see if an alternative solution could be provided, if desired by it's members.

    Would it be to much to ask of NHRA to help underwright the TAD & TAFC purse in order to get this National event off the ground properly? If they let it be known that they were doing this it would certainly enhance their image with the racers and fans. What is PR worth?
