NHRA TAD & TAFC Power Rankings
    9/7/05

    TAD
    (Last week's rankings in parenthesis)

    1. Steve Torrence (1) - Can anyone stop these guys? Rapidly closing in on the national championship.

    2. Aaron Olivarez (7) - The Armored Coatings team has been on a tear of late. Obviously has found something.

    3. Hillary Will (4) - Made another strong showing in Indy, running 5.32/269 along with a final round appearance. Showing signs of her early season dominance.

    4. Steve Federlin (2) - Stumbled a bit in Indy, seemed to be trying a bit too hard. Needs a win this weekend in Fallon desperately.

    5. Bill Reichert (6) - Seems to have found some of their mojo back, running consistent 5.30's in eliminations in Indy.

    6. Art Gallant (3) - Had the dubious honor of running the Torrence/Conway juggernaut in round one. Look for a rebound this weekend in E-Town.

    7. Randy Meyer (5) - Time is running out as the team enters Earlville this weekend. We're banking on a rebound.

    8. Marty Thacker (9) - Ran very strong, just didn't have enough for the A/Fuelers this weekend. Reasserting his team as one of the top blown contenders in the country.

    9. Guy Kelly (8) - Will be interesting to see if this team travels at all.

    10. David Wells (10) - Looking forward to the D5 showdown with Meyer this weekend in Earlville.

Just on the outside: Ken Perry, Duane Shields, Brandon Johnson, Lee Callaway, Richard Putz

    TAFC

    1. Frank Manzo (2) - We're moving 'Ace' back to the top spot, not only due to a big win in Indy, but it looks like him and John Glade have found something. Looking forward to the shootout in E-Town this weekend.

    2. Bob Newberry (1) - The Newb had an uncharacteristic bad weekend. All too often we see championship contenders at opposite ends of the country, but this year in TAFC we'll get to see the title go down to the wire, head to head in Div. 1. Next weekend in E-Town, then Reading will be a big one as well, as it will be both driver's last national. This one will be fun to watch!

    3. Jay Payne (3) - Qualified No. 1 at Indy, made the semifinals...hangs on to the No. 3 spot.

    4. Mick Snyder (4) - Once again made a strong showing in Indy. Who woulda thunk a converter car would be among the top runners in TAFC?

    5. John Weaver (8) - Ran very strong in Indy among some of the best in the class. A threat anywhere they show up.

    6. Dennis Taylor (5) - Will be interesting to watch the Div. 7 battle heat up this weekend in Fallon, Nev.

    7. Steve Gasparrelli (7) - Skipped Indy, Div. 7 title comes on the line this weekend in Fallon.

    8. Bucky Austin (9) - The Northwest Hitter will be coming down to Fallon this weekend to play with the Div. 7 boys.

    9. Jackie Stidham (10) - Look for this team to start stealing headlines again starting in a few weeks in Noble.

    10. Tate Branch (NR) - Cool weather and good tracks at end of the year should play into this team's hands.

Just on the outside: Clint Thompson, Brian Hough, Doug Gordon, Mark Woznichak, Dave Ray

Will, you can get Ron Rice at 405-787-0321 (home), I don't know his shop number. I was just wondering if Gene's performance at Indy, low et of 5.26 and making it to the semi's wouldn't have qualified him for "Just on the Outside" of your power rankings. Just wondering?
