NHRA TAD & TAFC Power Rankings
    8/9/05

    TAD
    (Last week's rankings in parenthesis)

    1. Steve Torrence (1) - Cool weather should make this an A/Fuel shootout this weekend in Brainerd. Conway and Torrence should be at the top.

    2. Steve Federlin (2) - Could have come out of Mission with two wins, but still came out with one runner up. Still looking good for the title.

    3. Randy Meyer (3) - Gutted out a tough win on a tough track. Still very much a title contender. Cool weather in Brainerd will help his chances.

    4. Ken Perry (4) - Lost a close race in semis at tricky track at Edgewater. Will be interesting to see if they show in Brainerd.

    5. Bill Reichert (5) - Making the trip to the hot and tricky Edgewater event put a dent in their title hopes. Cool weather in Brainerd this weekend should put them back in the hunt.

    6. Hillary Will (6) - Scored a win over the red hot Steve Federlin in Mission and retains her No. 6 ranking.

    7. Guy Kelly (7) - Was a favorite to come out of last weekend with two wins. Instead, came out with a semi and runner-up. Could have made a big move.

    8. Marty Thacker (10) - Scored a runner-up at a tough track. Looks to be slowly returning to his form of a couple years ago.

    9. Duane Shields (8) - Went to Mission, but struggled on Divisional surface. Will be interesting to see if they head east to Brainerd.

    10. Art Gallant(NR) - Ran some impressive numbers in taking the win at Maple Grove.

Just on the outside: Aaron Olivarez, Brandon Johnson, David Wells, Ashley Force, Lee Callaway

    TAFC

    1. Bob Newberry (2) - Ousted Manzo from the top spot after winning the duel in Maple Grove. Looks to be in the driver's seat for the World Championship.

    2. Frank Manzo (1) - Fell back to the No. 2 spot after losing to Newb in the finals at the Grove. Should make for an interesting title battle.

    3. Jay Payne (3) - Depending on his performance this weekend in Brainerd will decide if he stays in the No. 3 spot.

    4. Dennis Taylor (5) - Heading East to do battle at Brainerd this weekend. Will be interesting to see how he fares.

    5. Paul Gill (4) - Posted a disappointing DNQ at Maple Grove. Still one of the toughest cars out there.

    6. Steve Gasparrelli (6) - On a roll after grabbing the win in Sonoma. If he can keep the roll going, may move up a few spots.

    7. John Weaver (7) - This team could be the spoiler in Indy.

    8. Mick Snyder (10) - Can they be stopped? Definitely a hot team moving up the charts. Could keep moving up if they can score a win in Brainerd.

    9. Bucky Austin (NR) - Jumps back on the charts after picking up a double win this weekend in Mission. Looks like he's back.

    10. Cy Chesterman (NR) - Reasserted his dominance of Division 5 by scoring another win in Scribner.

Just on the outside: Jackie Stidham, Clint Thompson, Brian Hough, Doug Gordon, Mark Woznichak

Will I dont really see how you can have Steve Torrence #1 and Steve Federlin #2 with Torrence only going to 5 race and not even in the top 10 in points were as Federlin is #1 in point and has 3 National wins and 2 Divisional wins.

Maybe it is because Steve Torrence has more points per race than Steve Federlin.

my power rankings are somewhat independent of points standings. with some divisions running early, new developments with teams, points dont always tell the tale.

Your power rankings for TA/FC are amazing to the observer.

Dennis Taylor moves up to number 4?

He lost second round at Sonoma and he moves up?

Steve Gasparrelli has had his way in division 7 this year, has a won a couple national events including most recently Sonoma, and looks to be on his way to number 1 or 2, and you've got him behind Payne, Taylor and Gill?

Then you've got John Weaver on the list because he qualified number one at Sonoma but you don't even give mention to Larry Miner who took them out first round in Seattle and nailed them second round with low et of the meet in Sonoma at the Fram Autolites one week later?

I hope you aren't creating this list based on who puts their PR on this site.

    tnacc,

my rankings are based on many intangibles, but have nothing to do with who puts pr on this site. i base them off real world race conditions and how i think they would stack up if they were all at the same race. hopefully that will shake out in indy. things like performance, consistency, round wins, momentum, and my gut feeling.

there's alot of good teams out there, alot more than 8. to be honest, 4-16 are very close. i only do 8. i know every time someone moves up, down or off the list, someone's feelings are going to get hurt. i just figured we're all grown men and women here, and if i bumped you off the list, there's one way to get back on it.

this is also a public forum, so if you think there should be another ranking, feel free to post it.
