NHRA TAD & TAFC Power Rankings
    7/5/05

    TAD
    (Last week's rankings in parenthesis)

    1. Steve Torrence (1) - Can he keep the streak alive? We'll have to wait two more weeks until the Joliet Div. 3 event.

    2. Randy Meyer (2) - Will be interesting to see if this team heads west like they did when they won the championship in 2003

    3. Bill Reichert (3) - Very strong performance on a very marginal surface in Stanton. Solidifies his hold on the No. 3 spot.

    4. Ken Perry (5) - Despite the first round exit, looked very strong in qualifying. Moves up a spot due to Hillary Will's drop in the charts. Will see some heat from the guys and gals moving up the charts.

    5. Ashley Force (6) - Moves up one position on an off week, will be interesting to see how this team fares on the Western Swing.

    6. Guy Kelly (7) - Could be set for a surge up the charts with 4 Division 2 races within a month coming up.

    7. Steve Federlin (8) - Will be interesting to see how this team fares against several other of our Top 10 ranked cars this weekend in Woodburn.

    8. Brandon Johnson (NR) - Continued to impress with a runner-up finish in a very tough field in Sonoma. History has shown when Mike Johnson's hot rod gets on a roll, look out. They're rolling.

    9. Hillary Will (4) - Has a very strong national event combination, but has struggled on the divisional level. Still runs big mph, so turning the right knob on the tune-up may put them back on top.

    10. Marty Thacker (NR) - Came through with a big win in Stanton this weekend with some great lights. This looks like the Marty Thacker we knew from a few years ago, and that spells trouble for the rest of the class.

Just on the outside: Gene Snow, David Wells, Art Gallant, Chris Demke, Duane Shields

    TAFC

    1. Frank Manzo (1) - Having some consistency issues on the divisional level. A virtual dead heat with Bob Newberry for the top spot, but we give Manzo the nod this week.

    2. Bob Newberry (2) - Lebanon Valley win has him right there with 'Ace' Manzo. If he outdoes him again, he'll take over the top spot.

    3. Jay Payne (3) - The Valvoline Thunderslug has laid low for the past couple of weeks like Charlie in the bush. Look for the team back out on the Division 2 trail soon, and get well soon Shelly!

    4. Paul Gill (4) - Was able to mix it up right there with Newb and Manzo in Lebanon Valley. This time Newb took him out, still, very strong runner right now.

    5. Steve Gasparrelli (5) - Made a strong showing at a very tough race in Div. 7. Still one of the top cars in the country.

    6. John Weaver (NR) - Another strong showing by the Meer Capital team in reaching the finals in Sonoma. This car has been a 'contenda' everywhere it shows up.

    7. Brian Hough (8)- Qualified No. 3 in tough Sonoma field, but exited in round one. A higher finish would have put him up the charts, but is one of the favorites entering next weekend.

    8. Jackie Stidham (6) - With all the talk about the tough field in Sonoma, don't forget this car won over a 'tough field' in the All-Stars last year.

    9. Cy Chesterman (7) - The Division 5 schedule is about to heat up, and we could see him start another title run as well.

    10. Dave Ray (NR) - The 'Follow A Dream' team seemed to have found some of their early season mojo back with a runner-up in Lebanon Valley. Not to mention they qualified No. 1 at the same track Manzo, Newb and Gill were at.

Just on the outside: Jimmy Jones, Bobby Martin, Bucky Austin, Mick Snyder, Danny Townsend
