NHRA TAD & TAFC Power Rankings

    TAD
    (Last week's rankings in parenthesis)

    1. Steve Torrence (1) - Still has the 'hot hand' in TAD right now.

    2. Randy Meyer (3) - One of the few cars that can run in good air and bad. Englishtown win certainly bolstered his title hopes.

    3. Bill Reichert (4) - Moves to the No. 3 spot as a result of Hillary Will's slide down the charts.

    4. Hillary Will (2) - Struggled this past weekend at the Seattle Div. 6 event. Early season performance keeps her up on the charts, but will need to run in the heat to keep her title hopes alive.

    5. Ken Perry (6) - Was surprised not to see the 'Iceman' in Englishtown, but with the good air forecasted, may have been a smart poker move to fold that race away and sit out.

    6. Ashley Force (NR)- After struggling miserably the past few races, tuner Jerry Darien seems to be back in stride, running as quick as 5.26 on their way to a runner-up in Englishtown. Must demonstrate ability to run in hot weather to move further up the charts.

    7. Guy Kelly (8) - Semifinal finish in Englishtown solidified his standings in the rankings. Is an absolute monster on the divisional level.

    8. Steve Federlin (9) - Won this past weekend over a tough field at the Seattle Div. 6 event. A legitimate threat to move up the charts.

    9. Gene Snow (7) - Ran exceptionally well in good air early in the year, would have been interesting to see what he would have done in Englishtown.

    10. David Wells (5) - Has one of the baddest hot rods out there, just can't seem to catch a break on the divisional level. He was a lot of people's sleeper pick in the office pool, but will need to finish the year out strong to make a title run.

Just on the outside: Marty Thacker, Chris Demke, Duane Shields, Jeff Bohr, Brandon Johnson

    TAFC

    1. Frank Manzo (1) - Showed he's not unbeatable in Englishtown, but still has the car to beat.

    2. Bob Newberry (2) - Made a strong showing in Englishtown, but semifinal loss to Paul Gill kept him out of the top spot. Closing in on the No. 1 position, however.

    3. Jay Payne (3) - Was a surprise not to see the Valvoline Thunderslug in competition in E-town, but may be saving races.

    4. Paul Gill (8) - Anytime you just flat outrun the Newb, that's special. Could really mix it up for the title if they could take their show on the road.

    5. Steve Gasparrelli (4) - With Miner Bros. HP between the frame rails, this team can run the big numbers anywhere, and usually do. A threat to win whereever they show up.

    6. Jackie Stidham (5) - Won't see the Stidham and Wilson machine for a month or two as they mount their new Monte Carlo. Still hold down a solid spot in the rankings.

    7. Cy Chesterman (6) - Had the car to beat in Denver this past weekend, but stumbled in the finals. Team has the talent to get back to the level that put the No. 1 on the car this year.

    8. Brian Hough (NR) - Impressive showings in Pomona and Seattle last weekend move him up the charts.

    9. Jimmy Jones (7) - Hopefully we'll see this team show up at Indy to mix it up with the best. We think he'd turn some heads. Won the Div. 4 All-star spot against some tough hitters like Jackie Stidham and Tate Branch.

    10. Bobby Martin (NR) - Already solid player got stronger with some help from Randy Anderson. Final round finish in Englishtown was no fluke.

Just on the outside: Bucky Austin, Tate Branch, John Weaver, Dennis Taylor, Mick Snyder
