    OK,
We can't use blocks and heads that went on the market after 2001. So what are the blocks and heads that we can and can't use buy name (TFX, Brad Anderson,KB,Dart ect.)?

    Thanks

    bob,

you can buy nearly any part readily available right now. that rule was designed primarily to prevent the 5.00" bore spacing motors from being developed. At that time in 2001, both Alan Johnson and Brad Anderson had big bore spacing motors in production. As you can imagine, this would be a huge expense from Top Fuel down. everything from the intake down would have to be new.

it would be interesting to see the performance gains these motors would have. you could go to a bigger bore, and also, new heads could be built with bigger valves, etc.

I have heard a rumor that Pat Austin is going to use a Ford motor.A big block Ford engine has 4.9
    bore centers,(compared to 4.84 on a chrysler)a
    1.0" higher cam,and a ten bolt head pattern.Maybe
some things he could work into an advantage?
