I am making the switch from a twin turbo stock style suspension car to a 3/4 chassis car for grudge racing and shootouts.
I am wanting to run a hemi/Screw combo.

Any tips for a newbie to these?

    Do's & don'ts?

    Must haves & don't needs?

    Thanks!!

Lol. Upgrade your turbo stuff and stay away from Hemi. Unless you have wheel barrows of money to play with !

Dont over-complicate it. Keep it simple.
If you are unsure about something, get in contact with folks who know.

Have the fuel system setup by someone reputable.
Basic stuff runs well, especially with a screw.
Keep good parts internally.Keep up on valve train. Pre-oil it every morning before you run.

Most of this stuff is how you treat it. Dont forget that.
If you really want to get down to the details, let me know.

    I agree.
A good billet bae from obsolete to state of the art is not a tremendous amount of power.but the price difference is huge.
Ideally you want to buy a proven turnkey setup but it's easier said than done. Rock solid outfits command top prices . When you find a deal you will most likely be dealing with a bunch of risky unknowns.
My most painful lesson was running a crank with unknown laps. Don't do it...mag is meaningless.

Having switched from a fuel headed roots blown engine to a bae fat head screw blown motor this year I would say the engine that will has for sale is a real good price for a high end engine that will suit your needs perfectly...

    pay a tuner

As mentioned above, get a fuel system done by Randy Anderson, Spike Gorr, Don Gerardot, Darren Mayer, etc. If you're out west, Anderson and Gorr are right there.

I can assure you at some point someone will say you don't need to spend all that money getting it flowed, just put this pump, these nozzles and this jet....Kind of like the old saying, the only advice you can't afford is free advice.

If you hire someone to go to the track with you a few times not only will they help you get your car going up and down the track quicker, but show you the basics of running a blown alcohol deal. I offer a crew manual that may be helpful in this regard.

As far as what it costs, whatever you end up figuring, hit "X 2" on the calculator when you are done.

Fuel system is about $2000 for flow and set up, not counting any labor done to modify parts. Also buy some FLOWED jets and nozzles. Unflowed jets area guess if you are actually leaning or richening it. And a pin gauge doesn't mean anything on flow, especially on square entry cut jets. Two jets of the same size could flow different based on how sharp the bit was that was cutting it. Many of the top teams use radiused entry jets, that are flowed. Also, get a small pelican case or something to carry your jets in. Don't be the guy with the jets bouncing around the tool box. You can dig your finger nail into a jet's entry and change the flow.

    Thanks Will and all.
I agree on the tuner, I fought the twin turbos & BS3 and do not want to do that again.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that it's gonna need spark plugs every 2-3 runs. Oil changed and boiled every race , rods every 15 runs , springs every 25-30 depending on the cam. And a screw regardless of the od eats belts . Just saying , not being Debbie downer but turbo gig is way easier on parts than a pissed of screw engine
