To those who werent looking close enough at Jeff Hamelink. The new blower drive is a real problem. Were a team that looks close at details. We replace the belt every two runs and have had troubles. We feel that NHRA's decision is a turn in the right direction yet problems do exist with this. Our soft tune up in the first run was qualified #2 yet when we leaned on it harder rd 2 we dropped the belt with no mech. issues. On that pass we had the best 60ft and 330 time of both qualifying runs. The next pass the same thing happened so we qualified with our first run, not the greatest time but made the field. The first run of eliminations during a peddal fest amazing enough we didnt drop the belt but the on and off pedal action knocked out our rear burst panel with no dammage. Yes the new blower drive has inherint problems. Our only option may be going to 11mm but those pulleys dont exist yet. Well keep trying with 8mm but I do believe the new c blower is the best option:

I suppose having the top pulley the diameter of a pop can has to be the cause.Could a guy get a belt cut at 3.5 in to get every bit of tooth on the pulley?

For the pop can yes.For the 3.5 at this time no thats why were looking at 11mm. The problem there is well have to cut the manifold and blower an eighth of an inch 1/4 in total to fit the best belt. Or run dual idlers, which JR at RBS superchargers is looking into. Either way we feel the new od wont give us more than 8 hundreds of a second maybe a full tenth only time will tell

If Norm and Obannon got a tenth then the blower cars would not be too far off.

    Far Off!!!

Guess O'bannon Was't To For Off As He Had Low Et In Qualifing At Dallas. Not Bad For The First Time Running The New Od! They Had A Dead Battery The Round The Car Wouldn't Start. At Least That Is What One Of The Crew Members Told Me. Give Them A Little Testing And It'll Be 20's.

I think 128% is more hype than anything.

Darren would you call three and a half pounds of boost at 9000 rpm in high gear a lot of hype. That is at four thousand feet of DA. It will be fun to see what its worth at sea level. I guess it not worth to much in your book. I believe when its all said and done a blown car in good air with the new od will run low 5.20s. Its not 5.18 but it will get me close enough to have a shot at it. Lets see how Pomona goes.

Alky racer 3-1/2 pounds of Boost would help, but you gotta get to the finishline first.

Getting to the finish line is not going to be a problem. The only thing that needs to be figured out with the new od is the clutch. I am sure someone if not multiple teams will run 5.20s at pomona with the new od. Why are you being so critical of the new od?

    good start

i think it was wise of nhra to give the blown cars the remainder of the year to figure out the new overdrive.

in hindsight, i'm sure many on the a/f side would have liked a heads up to past percentage changes.

it's not as simple as bolting the pulley's on and hauling ass.

i'm excited from what i've seen, it looks like next year may be the closest we've seen in a while!

If 128% allowed more cars to run .20's that would be Great! So far it's just a bunch of broken Blowerbelts.
