    Look on the racing news page to see the latest NHRA release on oil downs...

    First oildown of the weekend will get you $250 fine and 5 pts. Second will get an ADDITIONAL $500 and 10 points. Third oildown will get you DQ'd and another 15 pts.

    no freebies for sportsman

    the pros get the first one free and can earn a freebie for every 25 consecutive oil free runs. Most sportsman racers don't even make 25 NATIONAL EVENT RUNS in a season so would never earn a freebie anyways. The big difference is sportsman racers START every national event with on oildown score of zero. for the pros the numbers are cumulative meaning that they just keep adding up. get one at each event and by the 6th event you have 6. if an alcohol racer got one at each event, you still start the next race clean. Still seems kinda rich that our fine is 50% of thiers (pros) and our purse is 12%. I guess an oildown fine of 60.00 wouldn't scare anyone anyway. NHRA comes across as though they think people have oildowns on purpose. Better double check the valve covers, oil ines, puke tank, etc. . :rolleyes:

    It is less expensive to run Afuel, so are they fined more than the blown cars?

    Wahoo, I blow the engine up and get to give NHRA 250$ along with what it will cost me to fix it. I guess having only one engine is a good thing? I can't get too far in over my head in NHRA fines.

    The oil down rules were not instituted because of the injected fuel cars.
    I can't recall an a-fuel car oiling the track down. If you can please let me know as it is unusual. With the lower constraints, and belly pans unless you leave an oil line loose you are pretty safe. I think the problem with the blown cars is because of the rpm they have to run. The real problem is that the afuel cars keep getting lumped in with the guilty parties. I guess it is called guilt through association. Loss of points would be enough. Fineing a "sportsmen" class is a little over the top.

    I agree with a loss of point, but paying is absolutely horrible. Pay to get in the event, pay for tickets, pay for oil downs.....

    Of course I was joking about the afuel guys paying more, but...

    NHRA is terrible non "open" organization for the non pro competitors.

    Big Company = Stockmarket #1
    Big Company = Customers #2
    Big Company = F the employees

    NHRA = Fans #1 ?
    NHRA = Pros #2 ?
    NHRA = F the real racers - sportsmans

    Sombody explain to me just what constitutes an oildown. Is it the first 1320 feet? Is it actual oil that you can wipe up? How much oil is a fine? I have seen fuel cars that looked like Spindle Top the last few hundred feet not get a fine. Guess if the mist is fine enough it doesn't count! Signed "Just Confused".
