I need your inputs on a new 3D Monte Carlo Alky body, shown below. I know there's not much detailing yet, but I am working on the mapping for applying designs. Any and all inputs are greatly appreciated.

    Thanx,

    Pro-E Model

If this was created with Pro-E, I would like some surfacing lessions.

looks like something from 1990. It's not cutting edge looking if you ask me. It should like a top fuel car not a 1992 alcohol car.

Here's an update The model is almost completed with some just some fine-tuning left to finish.
Once complete, I will start on animating the model, and, adding tire smoke.

Thanx to Will for the pix, they helped alot.

P.S., the model is a combo of CAD, not Pro-E, and polygon modeling. The body has 17558 polygons.

    nice

you do some nice work. Not up on my graphix terms, but I suspect that took you a long time. Swoopiest "1990" car I ever seen.

Why thanx Prospector, and, it does take a while to create the model. On this particular one, I have over 300 hours so far, but it usually only takes +200 hours. I'm working on animating the model, including tire smoke, chassis flex and other details, and that's where the beauty of a 3D model comes in.

I received some comments from others who do racing graphics and they could only comment on what I call a flat view, the side view. They didn't know how the cars angular details should be. I found that entertaining.

I think it's pretty swoopy myself, and, it's pretty accurate to the actual body.

    Thanx again for your comments.

UPDATE: Please check out my first animation and let me know what you think. It's short and only 150k file size, but you will need Windows Media Player v9 or newer.

Here's a LINK to the video, and, if you got speakers, crank them up.

I know the timing on the tire spin is off, but it came ok for my first animation.

    WOW!

That is really pretty cool. Having worked in CAD programs I know the amount of time it takes to create something like that. People also need to realize that it is a model, or more a graphic representation of what something could look like. I'm assuming you are using them to do paint rendering, etc. for marketing presentation, and if so, they are GREAT! Still, no matter what the purpose the whole thing is quite impressive. Nice work and good luck!

Jonathan, thanx for the comments and yes it does take a lot of time. The 3D model now has over 500 hours and will likely climb much higher!

You're also correct about rendering for marketing presentations, I've done some for a few teams, including renders with matching hauler. Imho, flat 2D "drawings" can't convey the same message as a 3 dimensional animated "movie" to a potential sponsor.

    Thanx again.

    3D art

I have been airbrushing designs for 20 years now... and have had tons of offers to go to work for different companies... However many want me to design on a computer, which I have poo-pooed for years... But seeing what you are able to do has me rethinking my decision... Your work is awesome, and no matter the media, it all takes time... Tons of time... Every computer artwork I have seen looks cartoonish, however whatever systems you are using, seem to be head and shoulders above anything I have ever seen... Along with your talent... Great job man... Keep scrolling on!! AA/RAY

Once you added the head lights it helped with the over all idea that it's a Monte Carlo. Looks Great!!!!!!

Is it Bucky Austin that got a new Monte Carlo body, if not can't remember who, but he's not even running fins on it. I think it was Houston, that car ran straight down the track.

I can't get over how much wider the body is compared to the old Firebird.

Also, great work though, LOOKS AWESOME. Wish I had one once of your talent. Keep up the good work.

Here's another Video which is the same format, but slightly larger file size at 325k so it will take longer to load.

NITRO743, many years ago, I used to paint also with my last paint shop working with Tom Stratton, sure do miss him. It's never too late to learn something new, I'm living proof!

Thanx to all for the comments, and, this CG stuff is a blast!
