I have an older Callies BBC 4.25" 4340 crank, it has been welded on #3 throw and is std/std, just had the crank re-checked and is still good. I have read posts and articles on building blown alcohol BBC (yes first one for me) and allot of the information leads to the cranks being turned 010/010. My question is should I have this crank cut or run it standard. combination will be mild BBC 496 10-71, GRP 5500 series rods 800/800 cam Bowtie heads. Staying around 1500 HP looks like 18-20lbs boost. Any opinions will help thanks

Does it have Hemi rod bearings? If it is just chevy stuff then going .010-.010 is no big deal. Hemi guys hate .010 cranks because they don't sell sleeves of bearings at .010. Chevy also has besrings .001,.002,-.001,-.002. If your not having bearing I would just clean the crank up and if you have to use a .002. Big deal.

    crank grinding

Am i reading this correctly, you have a crank with good journals that is Std, and you are asking if you should turn it 10/10 when building the blower motor? If that is your question, no run it.
If the question is can I run a 10/10 crank in a blower motor, Yes.

No reason to grind it if everything checks out.

Yes that was the question. did not understand why everyone was cutting the cranks when it did not seem necessary. I was wondering if it had to do with the thicker bearing material giving the block and crank a little more cushion in a blower application. thanks for the answers everyone I will leave the crank as is.

    thicker bearing

I may be wrong, but I do not believe the thicker bearing is in the bearing material, it is in the backing which would not help cushion.
