Need to add a little variety here to the Pitt Buzz, more on blown ProMods. What a two week adventure I had with Swedish Flamholc Racing PM team going to the US Nats and ADRL Memphis. Would do it again in a flash. I flew down to Fort Meyers and drove the rig out of Isaac in heavy wind and rain but was hit harder going through Atlanta. White knuckle driving. So much rain I couldn’t see. Finally got out of it in Tennessee. Drove up to Indy and met up with Adam Flamholc and the rest of the crew who had just flown in from Sweden. It was hot and it was humid at Indy with Isaac in the forecast. Had one qualifying run and would you believe the fuel shutoff closed, kaboom. I know, but don’t ask why. The Leahy safety devices worked, lol. With Mike Janis senior and junior and his crew we installed the new Jan-Cen motor and waited for another chance to qualify. It didn’t come so we headed down to ADRL Memphis with a stop at Gateway for testing with the new motor. Also stopped at Jerry Haas’ shop outside of St Louis for some chassis work. Jerry and his team are great guys then arrived at Gateway track in the rain again. Waited and finally had a run chance in the evening. Jerry owns part of the track so he was there sweeping water out of the burnout boxes for the young kids in their Mustangs. The kids had no idea that was the Jerry Haas doing that. Got in two runs and then onwards to Memphis where it was equivalent to 110* in heat and humidity. Big cold front came down and hit us bringing high winds, rain and tons of lightening. The new weather was now great for blower motors. We qualified sixth because we are trying to learn the new motor. First eliminations beat Stivers’s blower car, second round we beat Pat Musi’s nitrous car and we ran a 3.941 and they said at 200.17 mph but that is no way. We don’t have the horsepower to run 200+ mph. I wish but we have the time slip, lol. Had Todd Tutterow’s turbo car in the finals. Right before the finals we were called to the tower because of a call from a friend in NHRA. We had moved from being Not Qualified at 17th to now qualified at 15th and they wanted to know if we would race. Well you guys know the answer, Hell Yes. Back to the finals against Todd. We lost because we blew apart the rear yoke on the pinion shaft. Threw everything in the trailer and headed for Indy which is a seven hour drive. You don’t want to know how fast Adam was driving. Passed Tutterow and Musi on the road. Coordinated with NHRA on the cell phone on getting back into the track. NHRA really treated us well and it went very smoothly getting back in and parking in the same spot. Yanked the car out of the trailer and Johan with Pete Farber’s help fixed the driveshaft and swapped the third member. Started the car up and tested it and the guy came by on his scooter and asked if we were ready to go, Hell Yes! We ran Jeg’s turbo car in the first round. Had him beat at the 1000ft mark but that turbo took off like a bullet and beat us in the last 320 ft. At the 330’ we had a 2.657 to their 2.765, at 1000 ft we had a 3.954 to their 4.034, BUT at the finish we had a 6.007 to their winning 5.962. Those turbo cars have the power at the end, wow. The big thing is we wanted to run in the eliminations at the Superbowl of drag racing at the US Nationals and we did plus went to the finals at ADRL. The entire Swedish crew went home tired but happy. What a great trip for all. A big thanks to Jerry Haas, Mike Janis senior and junior, Pete Faber, Jimmy Rector, Camp Stanley, NHRA’s Tom Grooms and Joe Lease and the entire ADRL staff.
This is a great video of ADRL Legal PM eliminations. We have the silver ’68 Camaro with the black strips on the hood and Hurst Boiler on the door.

Swedish Pro Mod tuned by British Bloc - WOW!

WOW! What a thrill to be able to run both US Nats and ADRL and be super competitive!! Great job and kudos to the entire crew and good tune calls by Mike Canter. Next year you'll have to call the tune on both the Pro Mod in USA and the TAFC in Sweden! Hang on, you're going to like what you do Mike. Enjoy!!!
