Does anybody have an email address or way to contact somebody (online) regarding the best distributor/mag, coil, etc for a blown alcohol small block combo please? I tried the form on their website but no reply

There are a few to choose from and each varies to application. You can use anyone of these combos and could be considered best for your application.

Msd electronic distrib with a 7al3 low boost or on Gas
Msd mag 10,20 etc,..with their coil
    Mallory mag 2, 3, 4 ,5 with their coil #28990
Vertex mag hopped up, with with mallory coil #28990

If you have to run an offset mag drive then the vertex will not work unless you get the front drive for it. You can also add a crank trigger if you wanted too.

Its not rocket sience, just which ever one you can afford and will fit best on your motor.

Call Spud Miller at Fuel Injection Enterprises,..541-990-2485,.or go to his web @

Thanks for that. I already have a Mallory SuperMag IV with Dunn Services offset drive, etc but I'm thinking about swapping it for a good MSD distributor with something like an 8+... I like the possibility of 2 step rev limiters and other bells and whistles with the MSD ignition controls. Just a matter of getting the best/right distributor, coil, etc for the job.

    PS. 388 cube small block Chev, hi-helix 10-71 on injected alcohol... 7.11 @ 190mph

the two-step can be used on the msd8 ,10 and any of the pro mag ignitions.
and with the power grid..( 7730) ..now you can have all bells and whistles with any msd ignition !

how fast you spinning that blower ?

Do I require a mag though? Or would something like the following combination be enough:

    MSD 8-Plus Ignition Control - PN 7805
MSD Pro Power coil - PN 8201
    MSD Pro-Billet w/locked-out timing Distributor - PN 85501

Re the blower 18% over (around 32lbs boost)

Hi guys, we run a MSD-10+ (with a standard cap MSD dizzy and crank trigger) as it puts out more grunt than anything other than the promag44. I have never been a fan of mags unless you arent running an on board battery. The MSD -8 is a good unit and they tend to keep the plugs cleaner than a mag as they have a higher voltage and the multiple sparks at low revs keep the plugs clean. A good contact at MSD is: Rick Jage [rjage@msdignition.com] Cheers Graham
