Thanks to all who posted on my previous question about my hard starting Pro Mag 44. I have tried all suggestions with no luck. A few guys talked about rotor phasing. I have a spare cap I drilled a hole next to number 1. To check phasing do I just shoot a timing light at the rotor firing on number one thru the hole in cap? If so at what part of the cap terminal should the mag be firing?
    Thanks Todd

I normally paint a white dot on the middle of the rotor and a white dot on the edge of the hole in the cap directly out from the number one post to make alignment easy and exact when viewd with a timing light. This makes my rotor exactly opposite #1 post.

This exact rotor phasing can only be done when a crank trigger is used, not the mag trigger.

If you go to the promag website http://www.msdpromag.com/ there is a great video clip of what you should be looking for. We ran ours off of the mag and later the trigger. It also describes how to set it with a six shooter if you ever want to run one.
    thanks
