MSD Pro Mag 20 ?

What is the proper gap on the crank trigger sensor for one of these ? MSD crank trigger.

 

30 to 50 thou. I set mine as close as possible without it hiting or rubbing with the motor running. Make sure all four magnets on the wheel are still magnitized. Have seen a weak magnet cause a lot of problems. You can kill them with a little too much heat.

 

Had a problem on the dyno ? Had a miss about 6000 on up,, had the gap at .055.
Unplugged the crank trigger, ran it on the mag , ran fine ?
All the parts are new.

Same engine, same day,,, had to change the spark plugs about every 3rd or 4th (at the most) pulls ?
It would shut the dyno computer down ( RF Noise ) ?
Had NGK's in it most of the day, then went to Autolite,,, Autolite were 3 pulls at best ?

Head to head to block ?

In the car, head to head to chassis or block , then chassis ?

something else to check ,,,, What plug wires are on it and how old?

 

MSD 8.5,, has 5 passes on them since they were new !

 

Try another crank trigger !
