went to crank the car after setting a couple weeks and it won't fire checked all the plugs on mag & points box and they seemed fine checked ground from points box to engine rotor and cap look fine replaced coil wire then pulled coil wire of mag and plugged a spark plug in it and grounded it to the engine when you crank engine over it has one small spark and then nothing if you just let off the starter button and hit it again still no spark at all but you give it 30 seconds or so you get that one spark again

ps: triggering of the mag no crank trigger also checked the switch

    anybody got any ideas

    THANKS JOE

Does the car have a six shooter or a retard box? If so they may have to be powered up for the ignition to work. Dave Germain

no 6 shooter or timing retards at all just mag and points box. I even unpluged the plug going from the points box to switch thought it might of been shorted but done same thing.

make sure the engine is spinning faster than 250 rpms and if it is change the box.

Pull the plugs so the motor spins faster on the starter. Then put that plug back in the end of the coil wire and try it again.
