    how much gain in power can i expect if any, by going from a 12amp. to a 44amp. msd mag

    the mag won't give you more power, but you can experience a gain from the 44 allowing a timing change and will burn a larger fuel charge which nets a gain in power- you will have to tune for the power increase- it doesn't happen cause you drop in a new generator---

    look at your combo and if you can get by with upgrading your12 amp to a 20 amp do that. It is not as hard on wires, caps and points box. You will see a gain even in the 20 amp but like he said you have to tune for it.
